GOODE FORTUNE//

Though this series reflects on celebrating Black bodies and embracing oneself in all its glory, my intentions behind The Joy of Goode Fortune reflect on the commodification of the physical being. The balloons, often a sign of merriment were used during shooting to cover the models face as a double entendre. Black features being mocked and idolized in the same breathe. Black culture (when heavily popularized) is actually embraced as if it were not our own. So theorize, celebrate and go off.
